What will they say about you? You know, when the great great grand kids tell stories about the great pandemic of 2020. By then maybe we will know all the truths about it and all that will be left are the legacy stories. What will those children say about how you acted during this historical year?
What labels will be created. Freedom fighter. Mask monger. Trumper bumper. BLMer. Marxist mercenary. Wallflower. Bubonic blue Repugnant Red. Mask mutineer. Power progressive. Socialist subversive. Constitutionalist. What will they call you? Is your behavior worthy of a label?
Historically, will the stories told about you be rich in passion, self discovery, and altruistic goal setting or a story laced with shame, embarrassment, and fabricated fantasy? Are you exceptionally well informed or are you just extremely well plugged into the rumor mill? Do you speak from the hardened surface of fact or spew from the shifting sand of conjecture? Will the great, great grandkids laugh at your chosen behavior or marvel at your brilliance?
What will they say?
The Bible talks about two or more witnesses. (Duet. 19:15-21) These witnesses must be of impeccable character because they will witness before the most powerful force in the universe, the one true God. Before it becomes fact, the stakes are very high because God just might pour out his wrath on the liars. I’m pretty sure the Bible confirms this motion.
Now follow my logic for you may not believe in Jesus or God but the logic progression of these Biblical wisdoms have amazing guiding properties.
Biblically, for any testimony of truth, two or more witnesses, without reproach, must verify the statements being put forth. Imagine the deafening silence that would wash over this land if no one could speak or write about a subject without these met criteria!
To post on social media one would have to check backgrounds of the minimum two sources to make sure that their history and motivation were clean. How many would lift a finger?
The U.S. has become addicted to the social hit and run. It originated with mass media. Agenda reporting is all the rage now, but has been subtly present for years. Reporters knew about JFK’s affairs but reported nothing because JFK was popular with the press and the agenda was his success. Bill Clinton was famous for wandering off the marriage reservation but the press favored Bill and the stories were squashed for months/years. Nixon had a drinking problem (among others). Roosevelt was confined to a wheelchair and most didn’t know. Obama secretly smoked the unreported cigarettes but character flaws we’re not in the mainstream agenda.
The social media hit and run culture has transformed our nation into a wretched relegation of ravaging rumor regurgitators and gruesome gossip gangsters. The number one goal is seemingly to be first with the plumpest piece of putrid propaganda which is rarely sourced. When a source is cited that source is more often than not savagely steeped in bias and make no attempt to balance the reporting whim.
What will the great, great grandchildren say about you? “My great grandma was never right. I think she may have been deranged.” My great grandpa believed everything on his phone no matter how absurd.” What will they say and what are you teaching?
Remember, they will learn it from you and then, naturally, use it against your relationship.
I encourage you to watch closely what you intake and repeat as fact. The current social vigilantes, cancel culture, our-team-at-all-costs, death squad is not helping heal our nation or our individual health.
